The Wheel of Life is a simple yet powerful tool for visualizing all areas of your life at once. Its great exercise for helping you create more balance and success in your life and to take action in the areas that need improvement.
The Wheel of Life is powerful because it gives you a visual representation of the way your life is currently, compared with the way you’d ideally like it to be. It is called the “Wheel of Life” because each area of your life is mapped on a circle, like the spoke of a wheel. When one of the spokes is shorter than the others, it can throw the whole thing off balance
When life is busy,and all your energy is focused on a certain area in your life, it’s all too easy to find yourself off balance, not paying enough attention and neglect other important areas of your life. While you need to have drive and focus sending too much of this in one area, can lead to frustration and intense stress to you and others.
When you come for a coaching session we will brainstorm the six to eight dimensions of your life that are important to you. The wheel contains eight sections that represent a way of describing a whole life. You can choose which facets of your life represent you. Then ranking how you’re doing in each area from 1 to 10, where 10 is excellent and achieving mastery, and 1 is you couldn’t be doing any worse.
Once we have identified the areas that need attention, it’s time to plan the actions needed to work on regaining balance. Starting with the neglected areas. Looking at
- What things do you need to start doing to regain balance?
- In the areas that currently sap your energy and time, what can you stop doing or reprioritize.
As Tony Robbins says, too many people are caught up with making a living and not designing their life. But to be able to design your life, you must first create your map of where you are today.
